Cut into Pieces

As your child and your pride,

Was I not supposed to be a priority?

To be cared for and supported in my decisions,

Was that too much to request of you?

If you did not care, at least you could have left me be,

Why did you have to cut me into pieces?

I didn’t want very much, only to be loved,

Why was that too much to ask for?

I suppose it is my fault for not being worthy,

But couldn’t you have tried to understand me?

I know I wasn’t easy to reach, behind all my walls,

But couldn’t you have tried to see me through?
