Cutting All Ties

Last night I thought I calmed the waters

You went back to sleep

Peacefully

But in the morning, there you were

Hollow and empty

Again

Sometimes you disappeared

For only a second

Sometimes for days at a time

I am sorry I couldn’t make your sky blue

And take the clouds away

But I’ll carry your heart with mine
