Cutting the Strings
A carefree soul
Who dances to the same tune of society
Meets those who help her break free
From life’s dull dance
But one soul stands out from the rest
Slowly, strings start attaching themselves loosely to her heart
Allowing the soul to go
Where others have been pushed away
Over time, the loose strings tighten
Until a life changing event occurs
That’s when the strings tightened,
Tighter than they have ever been before
Months pass
Rather than strengthen,
The ties, they’re weakening?
Then one day,
They suddenly go limp
Slowly, the venom of the soul’s words
Flood the heart, causing so much pain.
But those people that helped her break free
They’re back
And help her cut, for once and for all,
The puppeteer’s strings
Allowing her to live free
