Cyberpunk
My life may be yours one day
hunkered away in a dusty corner
Gas mask digging into your face
Forever etching a crease in your skin
Bandits raging
Guns blazing
Cities wasting
Putrid toxins corrupt the sky
Greasy water slick with rainbow
Bittersweet and ever deadly
Life’s new metaphor
Once proud structures
Riddled by the glories of war
Humanity nearly lost
Love brittle and rare
Survival is uncertain
There is no friendship
Only tentative cooperation
Till impulse takes over
My life sucks
It hangs by a grimy thread
But I am not you
The future is always fluid
It only takes one to protect
One to encourage and preserve
One to stop this man-made apocalypse from happening
Your life doesn’t have to be mine
