The Cycle

I will take a stand for what I believe.
And I believe in good teachers.
People who teach 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
That doesn’t include grading time, extra-curricular activities, or meetings.
Do you know what a teacher gets paid?

Complete shit.
Yes- some teachers suck.
But some people suck and that is just life.
There are students that suck.
Is there a scholarship for teachers earning a higher degree where they can rant about dumb students for money?
Doubt it.
Some teachers won’t care.
And every year there will be a student who sat in the back of the room
flunking straight through that class.
But instead of blaming a teacher, use that energy to walk up to that student.
Give them a copy of your notes.
Tutor them after school.
Help them.
Encourage them.
Because I hate the word fail and I hate the word fault-
And although they aren’t interchangeable-
They both describe the cycle our schools rotate.
But I love the word change and I love the word difference-
And although those aren’t interchangeable either-
They are both something YOU
can make.
