Cycle of Indecision
When people ask:
“What do you prefer?”
I do not know what to tell them.
I love the warm days,
So that I can walk out of my cocoon
And feel the cool breeze
Wrap its arms around me.
I also don’t mind the cold days
So that I can cuddle,
Create my own heat
When the cold wants to
Play Hide-and-seek,
Tickle me nose,
And tell the wind
To blow me a kiss.
I like happy slow songs
And fast sad songs
Sometimes I keep a secret loudly
And make demands
Softly.
I tell people I’m doing great
When all I want is someone to listen.
But no one has the time
As if they are
A fast-food
Drive-thru
In a hurry to be disappointed.
When people tell me,
“Choose one”
I freeze up
Because the brain wants
To tell me
About all the choices
I wish I had.
I don’t love one choice enough
To refuse the other,
And I don’t hate one
To declare a winner.
I say I’ll roll with the team.
Then I’m somersaulting away
In frustration
Because clearly my
Expectations
Were A-round
The level for walking over.
My head is spinning,
My heart is jumping.
Internally, I’m exercising
But my muscles weaken.
I’m asked if I need a breather -
The cycle begins again:
An endless indecision.
I say - “I’m doing well”
And move on does everyone else
Believing what a great life
I must be living!
