The Cycle of Truth

How is it that it's transparent, but yet it always manages to come up missing?

Truth hides, then lies disguised as substitutes serve as a quick fill in.

Weaves a twisted new outlook on what was once innocent.

Changing perspectives and placing people into even stickier predicaments.

Playing devil's advocate, it's funny how people sell their souls for riches.

And as they diminish, the addict's twitch itches and they commence to commit the same sin again.

Without so much as a little repentance.

Of course no remorse for what they did, until they get caught or reach a dead end.

Stuck again and plagued by deceitful grins that grace the faces of people who they thought were friends.

Frenemies are what you call them; forming a bond under false pretenses.

Never really got to the truth due to all of their defenses.

Always had a wall up and used insecurities to secure their fences.

Relentless how many hoops were jumped in just to keep the circle round.

Always wore a frown to stop people from coming around.

Never looked into people's eyes and kept their focus on the ground.

Couldn't believe a single noun that rolled off their tongue.

How many times did the alert signals need to be rung?

Shut away and locked like a closed door,

Or a closed mouth, nothing can come out.

The secrets start to collect and cluster like stars in a pitch black sky.

As darkness fell it left nothing but scars and inquisitive minds to question why.

As the world turns and light refills the sky,

It will clear the shadows and bring truth back to conquer over all of the lies.

Like they say, you can run...but you surely can't hide.
