Cycles

Cycles of the moon, life,

Is there really a difference?

A new moon, darkness, no light at all,

The journey beings as an infant.

Waxing crescent, a child's smile,

Adolescence passes with the blink of an eye.

After that, the first quarter,

Off to college we go.

Waxing gibbous, a victorious grin,

Starting our life, out on our own.

A full moon, finding love,

Making our dreams come true.

Waning gibbous, another young smile,

This time our child's.

Last quarter, middle age,

Time flies by.

Waning crescent, grandchildren,

Our life is complete.

New moon, darkness again,

We've finished the journey.
