Cynicism and the Artist

Your words paint the air between us the cruelest shade of "truth" Crooked, like your snaggle tooth I once thought was cute Cynicism punches at me through leadened air But darling, I don't care I'm not there I'm not there My body is solid in front of you But my soul has disappeared To the glow of soothing lights On the wings of Angels' flights And they sing me psalms and songs So I may forget my pain And they tell me to forgive Though your words are hard to live So I face your words again And they wound because I'm there now... And your words paint the air between us the cruelest shade of "truth" And I change them into colors...and paint my redemption.
