Dad
At night I wonder about you,
all alone with the City.
How you must long for your bed
In the early hours of the morning.
How much money you’ve scrapped by
tonight, hoping you haven’t been robbed.
Sometimes the shame of being helpless
Is just too much to bear
When your key cracks the second lock
I hide away from you.
I can’t empty my head lately, of the thought of you sitting, pulled up on the side of the road, head collapsed in your hands, hoping for an end
Or some intervention to change our world. Your World.
Your drugged up family.
I tip my head and you won’t pour out
Your despair has stained my brain
I can’t even promise I can pay you back
and thats the worst bit of all.
