Dad
Everything was so easy when I was a small boy
Running around crazy, writting on the walls
If grandma said it once she said it fifty times a day
Wait till you Dad gets home
That didnt scare me
my daddy loved me and would forgive me
Grade school was alittle tough on me
the teachers were the biggest tattle tellers
Dad got a phone call at least every other day.
Coming up with a different excuses became a true talent.
But Dad could see through the smoke screen and felt he needed
to set me in the right direction.
A little butt pain was good for ya, he's say.
Hurt him more than me- because he loved me
High School was the worst!
I just had to go with the 'crowd' that scared my Dad to pieces.
He never knew where I was, or when I was coming home.
I didn't care- I was 17 and could handle myself.
I was wrong. So very wrong.
I didn't see then the hurt I caused my dad- but you know what he still loved me.
The morning of college graduation, memories of my childhood fill my head
Good, bad, funny, sad, my life was one big flashback!
Walking into the auditorium I stop.
A rush of sadness takes over my emotions and tears begin to flow.
I shouda told him, I shoulda told him, I shoulda told you Dad that
I loved you! That you were so very special to me! Thank you for always
being there for me, but especially when I thought I didn't need you.
I was wrong......so very wrong!
My Dad never gave up on me. Never!
Dad would reached out his arms to show his love no matter the situation.
A ray of sunshine comes through the gym window as I wipe away my tears
My heart feels a slight flutter
I smile
I know
I know it's you Dad. You Never Did Let Me Down!!!
Your here today. Just like always- when ever I needed you
Thanks Dad! I will make you proud I promise!
And Dad.....I will never stop Loving you!!!
