Dad

He drops me off at preschool He kisses once my cheek He tells me he has to go And pulls me crying from his knee I soon forget hes gone I make all new friends But then he is back There is no need for amends I put on all my makeup I hear the doorbell ring He opens the door Asserts his dominance as king As he cleans his gun He yells back by ten He looks at me as says I love you Over and Over again I know he will be there When I walk the isle in white He will tell me that I am beautiful and everything is all right He will look him in the eye Place my hand in his He will approve Saying we know what love is And when he is old and wrinkled Age and ailment taken He will tell me it is his time And will remain unshaken I will love him forever My Daddy he will be And I will forever be his daughter His admiring sweet pea
