Dad

Dear Pops,

I know you used to sling the rock

And I know you used to make Mom's eyes pop

With terror.

It's crazy how one could claim to love their wife and kids

But abandon them

Then come from under the rock from which you hid

And smile.

It doesn't hurt me to smile at anyone

But you.

Facades hurt apparently

and those days are gone

but how to be a man you're telling me?

These feelings of abandonment won't allow me to believe you

even if you told me the sky was blue I'd still feel deceived by you.
