Dad, don't worry

Dear Dad,

I know you are worried. I see it in your face. Your youngest is going away, to a place so foreign and that may be unsafe. But I pray you see the good in my endeavors. Though you wear wraps of trust and belief I hope your confidence doesn’t unravel. I want to learn and to understand, a language not like ours- for the sake of building bridges. You saw this coming though- I have always been a dreamer - uninhibited by walls, doors, seas - barriers that are rigid - I hope you can break them down too and believe in me. I want to one day make you proud, but for now- I wish you’d be calm. Dad, I know I cannot understand how you feel, as I don't have a child of my own, but Inshaallah, nothing will go wrong. I will come back to you, now and always.

With love,

Your daughter
