Daddy

Your left your past behind,
Along with me.
Had you forgotten?
The man who you were supposed to be?

Some nights I lay puzzled,
I ask “why?”
“Why did you leave me behind?”
I’d cry,
Sit, and say “Your mistake was my life.”

But then I’d look back and realize,
The truth.
I’ve stayed my strongest without you.

Thought you were my friend,
Though you lay every night full of resentment

I have my weak spots,
And a place for you in my heart.
Filled with me begging you to stay.
My tears throughout these years,
Had finally painted you a piece of art.
