Daddy


She staples on her smile. Cutting up his pictures one at a time. Careful with the blade, around the edges. Yearning for the taste of lime. Tie his tongue To the wheel of a wagon Until his jaw is a sagging breast. Wasn’t her birthday, but she ate the whole cake. Organs are icy stings from bumble bees. The maple flame crusted over. Threw out the pictures nervous to look back. The tiny faces asked “Why?”
