Daddy

Daddy dearest where are you tonight
Somewhere dark and lonely
Or somewhere loud and noisy?

Daddy dearest are you yourself tonight,
Or are you the monster that takes your might?
Tonight are you the dad that loves his daughters,
Or the man that’s never been a father?

Has life stomped you once again,
Oh daddy dearest?
Has it dragged you down once more,
Kicked you to the ground
and left you on the floor?

Are you a sinner tonight oh daddy dearest?
No angels to save your life tonight?
No guilty mind to turn your path around?
No love so big to kill your drug?

Are you happy tonight oh daddy dearest?
Does life fulfill your dreams tonight oh daddy?
Wherever you are I hope it does,
because at least one of us is smiling tonight

On my nineteenth birthday.
