daddy damnest

they say father loves you

they say father cares,

he vies for affection,

but his approval is rare,

his jokes are lame,

his skin is thin,

to defend yourself,

seems a sin.

pestering, pestering

whiny like a babe,

pushing and pushing,

until finally I rage.

Threats pile on threats,

and promises on lies,

the more he talks,

the sooner I fly.

Fleeing his words,

fleeing his bother,

why such a loser,

I have for a father.
