Daddy's Girl

My daddy was, no longer is. Inside of me his soul still lives. He was a soldier who fought in Iraq, I did not know he wouldn't come back. At home he sang and played his gutair. He layed outside with me under the stars. His favorite thing to pass the time Was writing and reading and sspeaking in rhymes. His favorite person was Edgar Allan Poe, Through him my literary mind would grow. My daddy taught me how to write a poem, From there my talents started growing. I loved this form of self-expression. Through it I taught myself many lessons. So why do I write? I love it of course! It's my coping skill, my happy source! It's through my pen that my dad is alive, And through this ink that my soul can thrive!
