A Daily Affair

When the sun and the earth part and the sky blazes to life in a fiery orange does the distant purple recede. When the sun reaches its peak, scrutinizing us, pouring waves of heat onto us, does our skin tingle. When the clouds amass together to overtake the sun and sky paints shades of brilliant purple flecks does the moon’s outline become visible. When the night gives way to silence and darkness stretches over the land, does the sly crescent moon grin. When the flicker of the candle wavers in the midnight air and the writer scribbles furiously onto paper the last word and her ink is all but gone does she stop and see how consumed she was by her writing. And only then does she smile.
