Daily Bread

"Oh Lord, please grant me daily bread," I cried halfheartedly, when food was hard to find and my impov'rished state left me dismayed. I wondered if God even seemed to mind my pleas. Each night, I lie awake, distressed by all my future needs that must be met. And then, God spake, "My son, you are obsessed with storing manna that you don't need yet. When you have worked with faith, have I not shown that, day by day, I'll place food on your shelf? You'll only reap this day what you have sown, so let the morrow take thought of itself. Sufficient is the day to earn your bread."
