The Daisy

She used to be

a dirty little

weed, hiding in the cracks of

the busy sidewalks.

Every day she looked

up into the garden school

to see the rainbow beauty, to see all

of her friends growing.

She longed with her tiny brown heart to

be like them.

If only she could decode the complexity of heavy chapter books,

analyze them, and write essays.

But no, she was born with rhymes in her heart, and creativity in her soul.

One day as she was hiding in the cracks of the busy sidewalks,

a butterfly came and plucked her right up

and carried her over to the garden where all her friends were.

The butterfly stayed by her side and encouraged her to try new things

like reading and writing.

She got better with every single try.

"Lets try something new today" said the butterfly

The dirty litte weed looked up confidently.

"What is it?" she asked

"Lets try writing poetry" exclaimed the butterfly.

Her little brown heart jumped with excitment.

She didnt even need to try.

It was obvious she was born to be a poet.

Everytime she read her poems out loud she grew more confident.

She found herself through poetry, and grew a plethera of

inner beauty that shone through the inside out.

Soon after, her green leaves began to sprout,

and her sparkling yellow petals came out.

Now she is a beautiful daisy, and looks back on who she used to be.

"I can't believe that was me" she thinks aloud.

The butterfly hears her.

"Yes, and look at you now, you're a flower" exclaimed the butterfly as she hugged the daisy.

"I guess dreams CAN come true, even for a dirty litte weed like me" she said to the butterfly

Then she looked up to the sky and sang:

"Every accomplishment starts with a decision to try"
