Damn, That was unexpected.

Trees fall, thunder claps,

Young ones cry, elders collapse.

Powers gone, food is lacking,

Hot as hell, thirsty cracking.

Objects fly till 4 AM

“O!” I cried as I watched them.

Now it’s over, I believed, but surely it was not.

Saipan was in ruin

Our home island, destroyed.

U.S. brought their crew in, but

Damn, the inescapable void.

Everyday the aftermath would bring me back to tears

Losing all the island beauty I’ve known for all my years.

Often times my mind tells me

Remember August 2, 2015.
