Dance
From childhood up I have spent time to gain,
Technique and poise my teacher may deem right,
Dancing gives please and takes away pain.
Some movements that I do I must sustain,
Degagés, I lift my foot so slight,
From childhood up I have spent time to gain.
Easy, you say, ballet it is so lame,
Without it you don’t want to know my plight,
Dancing gives pleasure and takes away pain.
Ronde de jambe à l’air, my dance bring no shame,
To leave myself away from sound and sight,
From childhood up I have spent time to gain.
When dance stops for summer I feel distain,
Summer dance just two weeks, I am contrite,
Dancing gives pleasure and takes away pain.
One day it will end, I will not be sane,
Thirteen years I have danced with all my might,
From childhood up I have spent time to gain,
Dancing gives pleasure and takes away pain.
