The Dance
Moving swiftly she lifts herself off the ground.
She moves like the wind.
Spinning she falls into his arms just as planned.
He cradles her in his arms
for just a second.
He and her dance across the floor,
in the dim light their eyes meet.
Their dance speaks louder than they ever did.
The music comes to an end, and they slow their twirling.
He holds her and she holds him,
in seconds smiles meet their lips,
and they realize they danced with no real purpose.
They danced to dance.
