Dancer, the Transparent Mind
I can't put into words all the ideas that race through my brain,
Enter my heart, and ride through my veins
They express every emotion I feel,
The sensations, the sadness, the dreams I conceal
The pictures I see through thoughts and ideas,
An abstract future, beliefs that reign true
They're abstruse for my own mind to comprehend,
No use relating it to even my closest friend
Probably why it stays inside my chest, air tight,
One day I'll set it free, allow it to take flight
Let it soar like an eagle, the skies the limit,
No longer an act, a show, a gimmick
I guess I'm just afraid to release my internal life,
Lay it out for all to see my pain, and strife
It's not easy to expose every angle of myself,
I'd rather continue alone, than stop and ask for help
Some call it stubborn, lonesome, stupid, queer
if they really knew me, they’d know it's only fear
Why I become so anxious if it’s just in my head confuses me,
But I understand it's difficult to defeat
Maybe I like being mysterious or don't want to take the time to explain,
Either way there's not much for me to gain
My release is through artistic expression, creative chance,
I don't need inquiring minds, just a leap, sashay and a prance
The dance floor is my diary; my toes are the pen,
It’ll keep my secrets, let me fall on it over again
The music, the stage, the theater, the studio,
They’re the places I’m the most comfortable
They let me yell through my feet and cry through my spine,
Let me laugh through my arms, make every lyric divine
They let me worship, perform, release emotion,
Bring order to a desert full of commotion
It’s freedom, air, breath, life, satisfaction,
Intimate, revealing, and yet a main attraction
If you still don't understand, you don't need more answers,
Just believe and accept that I am a Dancer!
