Dancing Alone

Thumping Racing Pounding The life under my breast Waltzing to your words Spinning Gliding across the room Effortlessly flowing Never missing a beat Ballet to your touch Exotic and Beautiful Gracefully lifting me Pulling me down slow Intimate as I reach Arms elegant Toes on point Never missing a beat Pulled in close we would release For a finale We breathed modern Our hearts were on hip-hop I tapped Until you became jazzy I twirled to see your face Your smile Faded And your hip-hop didn't have any base to it But mine was pumping for two I danced for you And you're leaving the stage This isn't what I rehearsed in my mind You decided to change the song As the beat grew faster Your dance became careless Flinging yourself around you no longer want me We were once in sync Capturing eyes But you're avoiding mine I want to keep going But you keep showing The same moves Nothing new It became predictable But the predictability kept me dancing I feel our bodies Parting slowly On different songs Our feet on the same beat I won't let the song end I'll replay it again Don't care As long as you're here Because I never knew How to dance alone
