Dancing In The Rain

(poems go here)

It was a damp Monday afternoon, and the rain continued to blow against my bedroom window.

Peering through my purple curtains, my eyes became wide as saucers at the sight of the large raindrops.

I dashed out the door with my Cinderella umbrella, felling more like Mary Poppins as the wind turned

My umbrella inside out and lifted me 2 centimeters off the ground.

My younger sister and I jumped in the deep puddles and tried to catch the raindrops with our tongues.

Wearing my favorite purple flip flops, I ran through the murky water, wiggling my toes as the

Cool mud ran beneath my feet.

I grabbed my little sister’s hand, and we danced beneath the water fall steadily falling from our roof.

My tight brown curls lay flat against my cheek, as my damp, pink dress stuck to my nine year old frame.

Suddenly, the sound of a cracking whip and the flash of a bright white light permeated the gray sky.

I raised my hands to catch the large raindrops, in hopes to see my reflection and maybe to catch a piece

Of this bright light.

My earth stained feet danced circles upon the aged stricken road, Staunton Ave, as the sounds of nature

Played a solemn tune.

It was now dark, and as I listened to the tapping of rain upon my bedroom window, I fell asleep with a

Smile on my face.
