A Dandelion.

(poems go here)

Before,

I sprouted up amongst many;

Quickly, I thirsted for that vital drink.

I chose not where I grew.

Competing with the others,

I fought for my rightful place.

To feel the Sun’s warm embrace, it was relief.

However, the storms came.

The drops beat down, tearing petals.

And though they nourished me,

It was a painful process.

I never thought I’d see the light

But then the Sun; Oh the Sun.

And what’s more, this wind.

Bending and shifting and lifting.

Carrying my seed to a place I didn’t choose,

And in its wisdom knew where best to plant.

The soil rich, the rays strong

Far from harm and free from care, I was well taken care of.

More than weeds, I must be akin to a rose

For such care to be shown.

My Sun, wind and rain, I needed you before I knew you.
