Dandelions

When I was young
I used to make wishes
By dandelions
Somewhere in my innocent mind
I believed a wish on this weed
Would come true for me.
I wished away my problems
I wished for the future
I wished for friendship,
and I wished for peace.

I wish I could wish again

I wish I could find the biggest dandelion
And make the biggest wish
I would find all of the dandelions in the world
Maybe my life would get better than what it is

I wish for the innocence of the world
I wish for acceptance
I wish for love
I wish for my mother
I wish for my sister
And I wish
for my aunt, my father, and my brother
I wish for hope
I wish for Her
I wish for success
I wish for happiness for everyone,
and I still wish for peace.

The day the war in Iraq was declared
My landlord came by
He sprayed some weed killer
And my wish factory was gone in the blink of an eye.

Maybe I could find a shooting star
I wished on those too
When I was young and innocent
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Make my wish come true tonight.

After my wishing field was gone
I began to look up at the sky,
And each night I would wish
For that falling star to wish upon.

I would find a sky
Filled with shooting stars
I would wish for everything I longed
The stars could be shared
The whole world wide,
and our heart’s true desires would be true.

Wishing really gets you no where

It’s but in the mind of a child
Or in the heart of a fool,
so call me nostalgic,
or maybe I am a child at heart
Even say fool of the mind.
Sure, wishes don’t come true
But dreams sure do.
