Dare to Dream
In the back page of a book,
In the far corner of a little nook,
You would find my secret.
That At the age of twelve,
When that boy dared to delve,
Into a place I did not want him,
I learned that pain is real,
And it makes you feel,
Things you don't want to.
And there are struggles in life you must face,
But there wont always be people there to help you,
It's just not always the case.
When demons descend from within,
And make your lungs collapse and your air grow thin,
You must prepare to resuscitate yourself.
You must find solitude in your beauty,
You must find hope from within,
You must never give in,
To those demons who dare to drag you in there,
Where you're not even sure who you are.
And as I grew older,
And the others did to,
The ravenous words began to bleed through,
And eat me up alive.
The words tore through me like knives,
Cutting into the deepest holes of soul.
"Kids can be cruel" they say,
But they could never know,
How someone's words can crush you,
Can make you think your nothing,
And others start to believe it to.
When I look in the mirror,
I still see the fear,
Of the little girl who didn't have a voice.
But I've taken that fear,
And I've dared to steer
It in the direction I want it to go.
I am beauty,
And I am grace,
In the face
of ever lasting mental domination.
The chords of my throat are constantly open,
Giving words of encouragement to any one who wants them,
And I am the one who loves myself.
I may not be skinny,
I'm certainly not fat,
I am intelligent, graceful, strong....
there are many more words than that.
I tell my sister, "remember you are a queen.
And you should definitely dare to dream,
Of something way bigger,
Then the small area we live in.
Never let words define you,
Never let people crush you,
And always remember who you are."
I am the girl,
Who took her pain,
Did not allow it to give her a name,
And turned suffering into strength.
I am strong.
I am beautiful.
I am me.
