The Dark

I do not like the dark.

The stillness creeping through my bones

Crippling my senses

Into dust.

In a vast expanse,

No matter where,

I am blinded by nothing

And everything.

In space

Or under my sheets,

I still

My lingering thoughts

Dance on my eyelids,

Lulling me to the

unknown.

Uncomfortable in comfortable silence.

I can no longer see

Who I was

Or who I want to be.

I am afraid of the dark.

My disguised self

Drip

Drip

Drips

Away.

I can almost touch

The darkness,

But it slips behind my fingers.

I can no longer tell

Where it starts and ends.

It exposes my love and my dreams,

But I cannot see which way they have gone.

I am naked in my skin,

And I can no longer remember

Who I was

Or who I want to be.
