Dark and Light: Poetry's Saving Grace
Through darkness and gloom
I had one saving grace.
The words I wrote
Shined bright light on my face.
I struggled through
A bought of depression
Brought upon by someone
I thought had better intentions.
I wrote and wrote
Words spilling across the page.
A release I greatly needed,
Something that still could age.
At a young age I grew up.
My parents worked a lot
So I tried to find distraction
But realized that happiness couldn't be bought.
So again I turned to writing,
The thing that helped so much.
Nothing else could help
Not even a loving touch.
Through poetry I speak,
Through poetry I hear.
A love I will not give up
A love I now hold dear.
