Dark Beauty

Alone in my room, I sit in the dark

Of all of my brothers, I’ve left my mark

One is of water, one is of sky

But none of them, none, are as beautiful as I

For there is a way, I know, to fall in love with depression

That may be why music is my obsession

As I listen to “Ohio is for Lovers” in my room

I know it glorifies death, because death is what I do

There was a girl I know, who saw the allure

And saw death as something beautiful; something pure

But her steps were of life and of flowers and crowns

When I looked into her eyes, she didn’t know I drowned

And here I am, Hades, just another emo kid

Listening to death metal with his earbuds in

Persephone saves me, but from whom, is the question

Myself, I reply

But I haven’t quite learned the lesson
