Dark City

On the edge of the dark city

the wind ruffles my hair

Cold lights pierce the darkness

I wander to the fair

The carousel is spinning

Painted ponies rise and fall

The hall of mirrors

reflects my face

The moon shines like a pearl

But when the clouds pass over

the darkness comes to play

It deepens darkest shadows

Invites the midnight fae

So come into the fairground

where fairies whirl and fly

where clowns are singing their sad songs

into the lonely sky
