Dark fortunes

A dream job is exactly that,

one in which you cannot live.

For the revolving door is slow to admit;

it picks and chooses in a bias manner.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer;

we are bystanders to their games.

We quickly forget our dreams,

forcefully erased by those with power.

Stick to your day job, they say.

Why even try, why even bother?

Hard work is of no value here;

Their minds have been decided.

Wealth stays in their genes,

a dominant trait assuredly passed down.

They watch out for themselves and their clones.

All of whom cannot see past their veil of egotism.

The obstacles we need to overcome are too great,

This labyrinth has been put in place by them.

Those which have no care, no second thought,

other than their pockets, other than their greed.

It is a nightmarish thought,

knowing you are trapped.

Escape is the only dream,

escape is the real fortune.
