Dark hallways

Students walk by, pretending to not see

the teachers don't say a thing though everyone knows

her wrists bleed and bruises cover her fragile face

why don't they say anything?

the broken girl walks down the halls

alone

teachers don't help her fight her struggles

the kids taunt her

hit after hit and yet  no one stops them.

why should they?

It isn't their problem,

she is strange anyways

an anonymity, faceless

her words are unspoken and her violent sobs; unheard

a call to her parents does no good, after all she doesn't have any

hurtful words of slut and orphan come across

while adults she is supposed to trust share hushed whispers.

if they only knew:

they could have been the ones to saveer

now her life is over

no longer societies punching bag

All because no one said a word

they just remained silent with their whispers unheard
