Dark & Light

There's always that one person.
The person that gets you excited.
The person that acts like you,
Thinks like you,
Talks like you,
Walks like you,
Breathes like you.

That one person you see everywhere,
but never knew.
They could be sitting next to you
and you wouldn't even know it.

Everyone has that person.
That makes you sad and happy at the same time.
That finishes your sentence when you're looking for the right word.
The person you don't always have to tell that you love,
Because they already know.

I used to think this person was made up.
Just another fairytale-like snow white, or
Little red riding hood.
One of these tales that always ends with happily ever after.
Because once you experience real darkness,
The kind of darkness that comes when we die
A black vortex of empty nothingness, that is when this person will come.
They will jump right out of the fairytale book on the old dented bookshelf on the far right side of the cold, empty room, and leave behind them a trail.
Only to be disbanded when you have found this person.
The person you've always dreamed of.
The person who will light a campfire in the dark emptiness you called a soul.
The Person who will make your shadow
brighter than any star,
And who will come at the most unexpected moment.

Whatever you do,
You must always trust your instincts.
Don't let that one person who was made especially to complete you,
Slip through the cracks on the sidewalk
while the children sing
"Step on a crack, you break your momma's back."
Because the crack is a never-ending pit
Leading you straight back to the suffocating hand of darkness.

That saying you always knew,
"Things done in the dark will come to light,"
It was a lie.
The darkness is too strong.
No light can get in.
And when is your body is cold,
And as dark as a night with no moon or stars,
The only thing stronger than the evil that lives there,
Is the goodness brighter than any planet in the sky,
that exists in that one person.
