Dark to Light

Darkness envelops the sky as day turns to night,

And the evil glares in the eyes of the masses

Torment my mind and my soul.

In those dark brooding eyes

Which stare into my being,

I am but a stain on the earth.

If only this world were different.

If only tolerance were widely practiced.

Maybe then, there could be peace.

Strong as a mountain,

I must maintain my beliefs,

Lead by example in order to succeed.

As waves crash upon a shore,

Hate and prejudice remain constant.

This evil of the world I must change.

Peace, love, and happiness,

However cliché,

Are what I aim to promote.

Eventually, the world will see

That light which the sun provides

Sheds truth and acceptance on every life.
