The Dark Lighthouse

It was a day like any other.

Yet, the clock had become slower.

Each second took longer and longer.

There he lay in a sheet of white.

Covered in the tears I had shed without a fight.

My father’s sobs were silenced by the loud, long beep that echoed in the room.

I never thought this day would come so soon.

Who knew your world could turn upside just like that,

At the drop of a hat,

I had grown, but not physically.

I had lost all ability and I only grew mentally.

At the age of sixteen,

I had grown up.

He was my lighthouse when I was lost at sea

And then he was gone.

I had lost my lighthouse

And no one was there for me.

Why did growing up have to hurt so much?
