Dark Love

My mind is as powerful as the fierce seas,

Yet you beat me down and objectify me until I am uncomfortable in my own skin.

My heart is meant for better things than your amusement,

As you crush my soul and tell me you love me at the same time.

My hands can do as much damage as yours can,

Even now you tell me that I am nothing more than weak.

You say that I was put on this earth for your desires,

But I want to desire someone other than you.

I cannot look in the mirror without seeing your reflection,

For you have molded me into the perfect image of yourself.

Still, I let you take charge of my own body against my very own wishes,

And I am left feeling more empty when you leave.

Who am I if I am not myself in my own skin?
