The Dark One
This is my life, through the vain eyes of emotion;
The dark twin arises, to cope with commotion.
She keeps everything buried, until it's too much to handle;
Exploding mercilessly at night like a roman candle.
A prisoner of the mind, her thoughts are her shackles;
Chained by overthinking, yet, she’s too coward to tackle.
Some call her depression, but that’s not her name;
She is who she is and can never be changed.
She herself is diverse, from any one label;
She is quiet and conservative, although a little unstable.
She snuggles in her bed with shame, regret, and remorse;
Fraudulently nestled on this detriment course.
Pretty selfish she is, if you ask my opinion;
She knows she’s the creator of this precarious prison.
As an empath she feels every percent of the juncture;
Every reflection provokes a new prickling puncture.
Self inflicted pain, she could easily conquer;
Detachment, she covets, but her vanity stalls her.
A hypocrite at best, a demon she knows well;
He keeps pulling her in, as she strives to prevail.
She wants Nirvana for all, but she herself, can't relinquish;
Admittedly she knows with liberation her heart would replenish.
This twin is the dark one, so complex deep within,
Not even the light one can comprehend.
But the dark one is only half you see,
Combined with many others who make me, ME.
