A Dark Place

Darkness. With random bursts of light

Tears jumping as I open my eyes

Tears. Turmoil. Therapy. – it’s a cycle

The constant feeling of denial

“Look up there’s light at the end of the road”

Only if princesses really kiss toads

I found my light in a pen and book

Writing rhymes and hooks

I found acceptance with those who expressed themselves through written words

I didn’t get the chance to fall into the wrong crowd

Because the crowd avoided me

Because I didn’t follow Queen Bee

But after I came to terms with myself

The only person she could hurt now was herself

Darkness. With random bursts of light

Tears jumping as I open my eyes

Tears. Turmoil. Therapy. – it seems to be a cycle

But it’s not a cycle – it’s a journey through the wild
