Dark Places

i am sorry i let you

stain your hands

in my dark places

i am sorry i watched you

ignore the orange signs

“danger ahead”

but you loved me

so you kept walking

walking right into my dark place.

i am sorry i let my darkness

wrap his hands around your throat

his suicidal ideation had an iron grip

and you were gasping for breath

but he had me chained to the wall

i could not save you

from my dark place,

and i am so sorry for that.
