To dark to play the part

To dark to play the part, though you were told you were white from the start.

To be white  implies you have power over all like saying you can knock me down, silence my fight or even build a wall. Though when those words are said to me it makes me feel small.

I don't like what you say  about me I'm not white I'm black though you still calling me white though I don't get any slack

When I articulate my words you change my race godforbid you not being able to put me in my place. Everything white is seen as holy and great though white never let black step to the plate

I can't be black enough for you to think I'm down but I can't be white enough to walk around in your town i'm not blaming white and I'm not blaming black they're not even colors to be exact

My close friends call what they think they see I know I'm different from them and that they're different from me that was not because of race that we're not same they have rules placed in there heads by a system trying to make the "tame" I'm not a stereotype I won't play your game

I live my life for me and only me so you can unlock those invisible chains I'm already free
