The Dark Princess of Light
Once upon a time, there was a princess who despised day.
She hated everything that was bright, in each and every way.
Her palace was dark, it was always only night.
With creatures and critters filled with fright.
She was rich in anger, and poor in her heart.
Until she'd met a new friend, who gave her heart a new start.
He was small and brittle, even cute, just a little.
But approached with a girl, who'd come from another world.
With three greeting knocks, the girl pulled up her socks.
Fixed up her hair, took a breath to prepare... then spoke:
"Hi there, i'm the princess of light,
I carry light with me all through the night,
and I see that your palace is dark from a far,
so I came over to see who you are."
The dark princess yanked the castles door open,
as her spirits were warmed with fresh cookies from the oven.
"Here is your gift, I baked them with peace,
I hope that they bring your castle appease."
Snatching the cookies, and slamming the door.
The dark princess' spirits began to grow sore.
She looked at the cookies as they beamed a bright light,
That lit up her castle from its cloud of dark night.
With one taste of tongue, her soul became numb.
For she didn't taste darkness, and no longer felt heartless.
With smiles of recognition of how good the light was,
She started to forget about all the darkness does.
One bite of light is what changed her life,
and although unexpected, the timing was right.
She thanked the small critter for his service,
and the girl for her treats.
As darkness left her castle,
and grew into bright lights of peace.
