In a dark room beneath the pillows

Click, Click, Click

This is the sound of the pens  clicking in the room

The montone voice of the teacher is going off again,

Again we sit in class and hear nothing like a Charlie Brown re-ran

Running away from the perils of the classroom is what we do

Doing the work, but not understnading is how we function

We function in a place where our opinions are said to matter but really don't

We 'thrive' in an arena where a student is first, but our needs are put last

We are thrown into situations without having any knowledge...

...maybe this is why I fail

...maybe this is why I am careless

...maybe this is why

Why our school that are supposed to uplift us, are failing us,

Why our schools that are meant to save us, destroy us,

Why our schools that should be my tool for success is the last on my mind to get me from point A to point B

Our teachers

Expect us to listen but we are never heard

Our principals

Expect us to pay attention when we are never seen

Our districts

Expect us to attend when they never show up
