The Dark Sea

Alone I walk, along the chaotic sea,

The smell of coral, filling my nostrils.

Watching waves grasp onto the beach,

Before being pulled back into the ferocious sea.

Cold water fills my shoes and my feet become numb,

Feeling a part of the sea once again.

Migrating gulls fly down the beach,

Keeping their distance from the dark sea.

I wish to fly like one, instead I swim;

The cold water can be joyful to many,

It can just as easily break a man.

I will be safe, if patience is my key.
