Dark Whispers

Once again the voices spoke

Offering peace, relief and sanctuary,

Promised to ease my pain,

Promised to bare my burdens.

They asked for one thing, a promise

A promise that i would never leave them.

I trusted them, I loved them,

They were my light within the darkness.

What a fool I was.

How ironic that those whom I believed were my salvation

were truly my downfall.

They fullfilled their promise of peace

But what is peace that cannot be shared,

They relieved me of my burden

They relieved me of my friends,

They gave me sanctuary

Sanctuary filled with darkness, cold, cold, darkness,

With only the fires of anger and hatred to keep me warm

for the fires of love and affection  had long since been extinguished.

Here I stay tending my hearths

Hoping for someone to lead me from my sanctuary

To rescue me from within my own head.
