darkness
Slowly, it surrounds me
It’s weighing me down
More than ever before
I don’t know why it has chosen now
The depression is unbearable
The sadness is crushing me
I’ll soon be lost
Underneath what I brought upon myself
I could have stopped it
It didn’t have to grow
But, now it’s too powerful
I can no longer fight it
I must submit to the darkness
It will consume my entire being
But, I see a light
A light in utter darkness
Hope in the pits of despair
That light will keep me sane
I’ll never take my eyes off it
Wait, the light is fading
With my one light gone,
My life once again plunges
Back into the darkness
And into an unwavering sleep
